A FEW FOTOS

Besides getting lost a billion times trying to get out of SC and Monterey, we followed the schedule below, hitting the road every day anywhere from 6-9am in the cold morning fog. The fog stayed with us throughout Big Sur and into Morro Bay, so we didn't get much of a view of anything, which was disappointing on a 4,600ft ele/70 mile day. After Guadalupe it was all sun, gentle and not-so-gentle rolling hills with temps into 90s. Sunburn and lyrca tan galore. We saw a lot of farmland, migrant workers, pesticide spraying, deer, cows, and dead animals. We peed everywhere, ate everything, found a hot spring, and even had a stalker who wanted a threesome. 1 flat/busted tire, a few mechanical difficulties with my improv rack, and i also flew off my bike because Matt made me ride it down a mountain bike path, but 0 serious injuries. We met lots of amazing people, including a guy in his 40s named Ian, who's biking from British Columbia to Argentina with about 80lb of gear on his bike (we were childsplay in comparison to this guy) and the this family who fed us dinner and breakfast at one of the campgrounds when we had no food. The ocean was beautiful company until we got into LA county on the 4th of July, where Zuma Beach looked all festering and gross. I think I have the touring bug.

T2O - TOUR OF L.A.

Rolled out with Ziadie and Irving yesterday for one of the gnarliest rides I've ever done in LA. We started it off with a run through Pacific Palisades all the way out to PCH. Headed south from there past LAX to Manhattan Beach. We turned back north and cut through Baldwin Hills up La Brea and kept going all the way up. Up to Griffith Observatory and back down east into Silverlake then cut back across town to get to Westwood. Overall we clocked 2172 feet of vertical climb over 70 miles. All fixed. All city.

Sunset and PCH. Looks a lot nicer in the daytime.

Irving was working on a stop motion video of the whole trip...until the tripod failed bombing out of Pali. :(

Manhattan Beach.

"You need to focus!"

Top of La Brea. Mile 40ish.

Halfway up. Griffith Observatory to the left and the DTLA skyline to the right.

At the top. 1161 feet.

DTLA to the east.

Back home. 70 miles down. Gushi on the way.

Smash.

DRAGAFRAMA

We skipped 10th week drags last quarter so we decided to bring it back and do it right. Originally we were going to race early and watch Macaframa and hang out after, but Macaframa is having a little shipping problem so we scratched the viewing and just raced. Good times were had by all and no one got hurt. Very successful night thanks for coming out everyone! Tom caught up with me as I was rollin out of the lab and came through to say his goodbyes to the Giro.

GO FAST, TURN LEFT

Rolled out to the "Collegiate Fixie Fever" race hosted by the UCSB cycling team at Encino Velodrome today. Joseph, Angat and I held it down for the UCLA squad. Joseph won the Men's A/B and Angat and I faired pretty well in the Men's C/D for having zero experience. Let's just say I didn't get DFL so that's all that matters. Fun first day at the track...pushing 90 gear inches all day is no joke!

Cervelo conversion.

*facepalm*

Proper Pista Concept.

CHEMISTRY PARTY

This is what you miss out on when you sleep on a party invite from Old Uncle Tom. Epic home brewed evening my friends. I've never been in the chemistry department before...pretty much never been inside a building on that side of campus. This shit looks like some Star Wars space age shit. Every ten feet there is a digital clock and a station to wash yourself if you get smashed by deadly chemicals...gnarly.

Tom's container of choice.

Grillin.

Whips.

Poured one out for Nic.

Love at first site.

Tom's chemistry harem.
