T2OTR1

For those of you that don't know about Tokyo to Osaka yet here's the deal. This summer Steven, Jason, Ricky, Tom and I are going to Japan to ride from Tokyo to Osaka on track bikes and make a movie out of it. We're going to meet friends from both San Francisco and New York there...in total I think there's about 15 people going including riders and film crew. Check out the website and you can get the full scoop.

Yesterday was supposed to be our first training ride for the trip, and didn't exactly turn out as planned...Jason and I left the house bright and early a little past 9am with the intentions of meeting Steven near his house in K-Town on the way to Ricky's in downtown.

"Where the hell is Steven?"

After missing Steven at 4th and Normandie we decided to backtrack to Western and Wilshire to see if he was there. Again he was MIA so we decided to just take Wilshire all the way downtown to meet up with Ricky. About three blocks past Western I'm flagged down by a driver telling me to go back. I rolled up to Jay spitting out blood all over the sidewalk.

Jay hit a bump and his hands came off the bars. Next thing he knew he was on the ground spitting out blood. He cut his eyebrow and bit into his lip, but luckily the rest of his dome was okay. We waited for Jenn to come pick him up to go to Kaiser and Ricky showed up to wait it out with us.

After Jenn picked up Jay and headed out to the hospital Ricky and I rolled downtown to eat lunch at Eastside Market Italian Deli. I rode back from downtown slow and full in the afternoon heat while Jay waited in the ER.

After a few hours in the hospital and some stitches Jay was okay...hopefully the next "training ride" won't be another epic failure! Wear your lids and ride safe friends.

FLICKR.

The chain ring stain on the shoulder is money... how do you even do that?

Sorry Jay, get well soon!
